DOUBLE nomination for 'Narcissist in the Mirror' at the Manchester Theatre Awards

18 Jan 2018

This morning it was announced that the one-woman play, Narcissist in the Mirror, which played here at the Millgate Arts Centre in October last year, has been nominated for TWO Manchester Theatre Awards: Best New Play and Best Fringe Performance. Congratulations to Rosie Fleeshman, who wrote and performed it and to her mum, Sue Jenkins, who produced and directed it. Both have said how much they appreciated the warmth and support from our Saddleworth audience. Since being performed here, the play has gone on to form part of the PUSH festival at HOME in Manchester, where it continued to receive a very warm reception.

We wish all involved the best for the upcoming Awards ceremony, which will be held on Friday 9th March at The Lowry. A full list of the nominations, including reviews of performances, can be found here.

Proms Night Success

14 Sept 2017

Saddleworth Live’s first event at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph was a huge success and raised more than a thousand pounds for the venue. The 'Last Night of the Proms’ concert featured 'songs from the shows' performed beautifully by a host of Saddleworth singers led by Mirriam Lawton and Martin Bradbury. The audience were treated to a preview of Saddleworth Musical’s upcoming production of Oliver! with talented, young Samuel Sharp making his debut as Oliver Twist. There was a special surprise for one young woman on the night when her boyfriend proposed to her; to everyone’s delight, she said “Yes”!

We would like to thank everyone involved in creating the show and all those who attended, for joining in so enthusiastically. It was a great season launch and we are looking forward to hosting more quality nights of entertainment in the months to come.

Here is a short video as a momento.

Saddleworth Live to bring top shows to Delph

22 June 2017

The Saddleworth Independent ran a story about Saddleworth Live. Here is the piece by Aimee Belmore.

"AN EXCITING line-up of award-winning plays, music and comedy is coming to Delph thanks to a theatre-loving duo.

Tim Newbold and Michael Powis created a small but popular theatre and performance space upstairs at The Swan pub during their five years there....."
